FEATURING SONGS BY ETTA JAMES
A Note from the Director
After graduating from Texas A&M Corpus Christi, I had a boost of inspiration that led me to preliminarily create four short film proposals worth pitching and, ultimately, landed on “One For My Baby” as my first attempt at independent filmmaking.
“One For My Baby” was a project that was created through the research I was doing for a feature-length musical; I was inspired by Etta James’ cover and immediately knew this could lead to a worthwhile creation. Making a short musical film wouldn’t be most peoples first choice but it was a perfect fit for me. With the help of my family, friends, colleagues, and my community, I was able to direct a beautiful, romantic tragedy by incorporating the melodic narratives of one of the most influential and talented vocal artists from the 1960s. I will forever be grateful for the faith and opportunity people gave to me to direct and lead them during our filmmaking process.
